who is Qommunity
Queers on the Move, is a grassroots initiative born out of a pressing need to create supportive systems and spaces for LGBTQIA+ folks seeking international protection in Belgium. We are a voluntary based collective, providing opportunities where queers with a migration background can find resources, solidarity, and self-resilience.

Established in 2020 (formally known as DROA Community), our collective emerged from a realisation of the deeply entrenched hetero-cisnormative and white supremacist structures within Belgium’s migration institutions. These systems often leave queer folks exposed to violence, discrimination, homelessness, and other forms of marginalisation. With a scarcity of governmental and non-governmental initiatives understanding the unique needs of queer and gender non-conforming folks, we recognise a critical gap between the needs of LGBTQI+ community and the available support services in our city.
We curate cultural and arts-based activities and events by and for queer folks with the purpose of creating a sense of community
We organise sessions dedicated to raising awareness of critical issues and topics pertinent to LGBTQI+ international protection seekers living on the streets, in reception centers, or in other precarious situations.
